Narrow defeat for Celtic

Bayern claim victory at Parkhead

Celtic went down 2-1 to Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League play-off round tie at Parkhead on Wednesday evening.

Brendan Rodgers' side thought they had taken the lead inside 30 seconds through Nicolas Kuhn's drive from outside the box but Adam Idah had strayed offside.

Michael Olise gave the Bundesliga leaders the advantage just before half-time when he scored with a stunning strike and Harry Kane made it 2-0 early in the second period.

But Celtic hit back and Daizen Maeda found the net with a close-range header in 79 minutes to keep them in the tie for Tuesday's return leg in Germany.
