Everyone at the SPFL was shocked and saddened to learn of the death of Neale Cooper on Monday, at the age of 54.
Neale enjoyed a hugely successful career with Alex Ferguson's Aberdeen in the first half of the 1980s, winning all the domestic honours. He was famously part of the team that beat Real Madrid to lift the European Cup Winners' Cup in Gothenburg in 1983.
A midfielder, Neale also played north of the border for Rangers and Dunfermline Athletic and was manager of Ross County and Peterhead.
Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this very difficult time.
