Nevin amongst Clyde heroes being recognised

Former Bully Wee winger to be inducted into Hall of Fame

Pat Nevin - Clyde FCFormer Scotland winger Pat Nevin will be inducted into the Hall of Fame of his first club Clyde when the Cumbernauld outfit host a Sportsman’s Dinner at the Marriot Hotel tomorrow evening.

Nevin starred for the Bully Wee from 1981 and 1983 before finding greater fame and fortune at Chelsea, Everton and Tranmere before returning north where he played for Kilmarnock and Motherwell. Nevin also earned 28 caps for Scotland and is now involved in the media side of the game.

1955 Cup Finalist who played for Clyde in their famous win over Celtic, Davie Laing shows off his original shirt from the game at HampdenOther inductees to the Clyde Hall of Fame are the Dunn Family, who began a near 80 year involvement with the club when William Dunn joined the Board. Dunn’s nephew Frank has carried on the family tradition and sits on the present day Board.

Man of the Match when Clyde won the Scottish Cup in 1955 against Celtic, Davie Laing is also being inducted as is post-War record appearance holder goalkeeper Tommy McCulloch and former internationalist George Herd.

Ticket prices are £50 a head, with a table of ten available for £475.
