St Mirren have signed striker James Marwood from Conference side Gateshead.
The 24-year-old, who has agreed a one-year deal with the option of a further 12 months, came through the youth system at Newcastle.
Marwood has also played for Blyth Spartans but joined Gateshead in 2010 and netted 15 times last season as they narrowly missed out on promotion to the Football League, losing to Cambridge in the play-off final.
Saints boss Tommy Craig told the club website: "I'm delighted to have James on board. He will offer us good pace and drive in forward areas - I see in him a player with an eye for a goal. I would like to add further to the squad and we remain active in that department.”
