Peter Pawlett grabbed an injury-time winner as Aberdeen came from behind to beat Dundee United 2-1 in front of a crowd of 12,601 at Tannadice on New Year's Day.

The win moves Derek McInnes' men five points clear in third place after a rain-lashed afternoon when the leading trio all won.

Joe Ledley's goal just before half-time was enough to earn Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic a 1-0 victory over Partick Thistle at Parkhead.

Motherwell kept up their good run to stay second by beating St Johnstone 4-0 at Fir Park with goals from John Sutton, Iain Vigurs, Lionel Ainsworth and James McFadden.

Ross County claimed their first away win of the season, 2-1 against Inverness CT in the Highland derby. Early goals from Scott Boyd and Alex Cooper proved decisive although Aaron Doran pulled one back late on after Ross Draper had been sent off for Caley Thistle.

There are two Premiership games on Thursday - Kilmarnock are at home to St Mirren and Hibernian entertain Hearts, live on Sky Sports at 7.45pm.
