Recently appointed Queen’s Park head coach Gus McPherson will not be bringing his assistant at St. Mirren and Queen of the South Andy Millen with him to the League 2 club.
Millen, who was a popular figure at the Spiders when he brought the curtain down on his playing career as a 45 year old 3 years ago, took on a coaching job with Ayr United at the start of the season and McPherson feels it would be unfair to ask him to join him for a third time.
McPherson explained: “Everyone knows that I worked closely with Andy for the best part of a decade but it would not be right to ask him to walk away from Ayr halfway through a season.”
“It would also be unfair on the coaching staff at Queen’s Park who I am only getting to know. It would not be right to say I am bringing Andy in before we have even worked together.”
