Elgin City have landed a Ladbrokes League 2 awards double for October after an impressive run of results.
Jim Weir has been voted Manager of the Month and League 2’s leading scorer Shane Sutherland, who has netted seven goals in 2016/17, was named Player of the Month.
Elgin followed up a defeat to Annan Athletic by beating Edinburgh City and Montrose away from home and Cowdenbeath at Borough Briggs.
City are second in the table as they prepare to play host to Stirling Albion this weekend and Weir told Ladbrokes News: "Awards are great because they are a recognition of success. It's mainly a recognition of how well the team has done and how well the club is doing.
“I've got a cracking backroom team with Gavin Price and Stevie Dunn. It's not just that, I've got the physios working away and the staff at the club give great support to the directors.
“It's an award to the club. I'd rather say that it's an Elgin City award for the team of the month or the club of the month rather than the Manager of the Month. That's the way it should be.”
The Ladbrokes monthly awards are voted for by members of the Scottish media, with a Manager and a Player of the Month selected for each of the four divisions.
