Airdrie manager Gary Bollan had his first look at full-back Chris O’Neill in a reserve game last week after five months out injured and was impressed by the teenager.
The 18-year-old has been absent since before Bollan took over but could be set for a return to first-team action after his groin problem eased.
Bollan said: “People have been telling me since I came in that Chris is more than decent but I had not seen him in action due to his injury. Now that I have, I have to say I liked what I saw and he will be in my thoughts very soon.
“This weekend may be too soon but he will be playing in our first team soon."
