Opening day round-up

Hearts, Ayr United, Arbroath and Edinburgh City top the tables after the first Saturday of the season

Celtic began the defence of their Ladbrokes Premiership trophy with a 3-1 home win over Livingston on Saturday. Hearts came from behind to see off Hamilton Accies 4-1 while St Mirren marked their top-flight return by defeating Dundee 2-1 in Paisley and Kilmarnock beat St Johnstone 2-0 at Rugby Park.

Ayr United kicked off their Ladbrokes Championship campaign with a 2-0 win over Partick Thistle at Somerset Park thanks to a Lawrence Shankland double. Dunfermline Athletic overcame Dundee United 3-2 at Tannadice and Inverness CT also won on their travels, beating Falkirk 1-0. Ross County scored late on to defeat Alloa Athletic 1-0 at the Global Energy Stadium and it finished 2-2 between Morton and Queen of the South at Cappielow.

Arbroath are top of Ladbrokes League 1 after thumping local rivals Montrose 4-0 at Links Park while Dumbarton ran out 2-0 winners at East Fife. Airdrieonians scored three late goals in a 3-1 victory at Forfar Athletic and Stenhousemuir beat Brechin City 1-0 at Ochilview. Stranraer and Raith Rovers drew 1-1 at Stair Park.

A Blair Henderson hat-trick helped Edinburgh City to a 4-0 win against Albion Rovers at Ainslie Park in Ladbrokes League 2. Clyde beat Cowdenbeath 2-0 at Broadwood and Berwick Rangers defeated Stirling Albion 1-0 at Shielfield. There were 1-1 draws between Peterhead and Queen's Park, and Annan Athletic and Elgin City.
