At the other end of the scale, Inverness CT and Stirling Albion set a record for the lowest-scoring shoot-out in Scottish football history - ICT won 2-0 as the Binos failed with all four of their kicks.

Stenhousemuir, Arbroath, Brechin City, Edinburgh City, Morton and East Kilbride also picked up bonus points via a penalty shoot-out triumph.

Ross County were the biggest winners on the night, thrashing Montrose 6-0 at Links Park, while Kyle Lafferty was on target as Hearts beat Elgin City 1-0 at Borough Briggs.

Dundee scored in stoppage time to edge out Raith Rovers 2-1 at Stark’s Park and Kilmarnock hit back to see off Clyde 4-2 at Rugby Park.
