Queen of the South midfielder Stephen McKenna has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a hip injury.
The 28-year-old has been out of action for four weeks and tests this week confirmed that surgery is required.
Palmerston manager Jim McIntyre said: “It is disappointing news for Stephen and for us as we tried a course of injections recently to try and help. He will get the operation soon but he will not be back before the end of the season.
“Stephen has been a big player for us so he will be missed but thankfully we have brought in Mark Kerr and Lewis Kidd recently.”
