Queen's miss Higgins after unsuccessful appeal

Sending off for Doonhamer not over-turned

Queen of the South have lost their appeal against defender Chris Higgins’ sending off in their recent game against Morton and he will now miss tomorrow’s clash with Falkirk.

Higgins was dismissed for handball by referee Euan Anderson just before the interval in the 1-1 draw between the teams with the Match Official believing that he had denied a clear and obvious goalscoring opportunity.

The Doonhamers believed that there were players covering and took their case to the SFA Appeals Panel yesterday at Hampden only to see Anderson’s decision agreed with.

Manager Jim McIntyre said: “It is a disappointing outcome as we felt we had a good case. Chris will now miss out on a big game in our season when we play Falkirk this weekend.”
