Full back Paul McGinn has returned to St. Mirren after a two month loan spell at his first club Queen’s Park and his former Spiders’ colleagues are hoping that he can return to Hampden as a Scottish Communities League Cup Finalist.
The 22-year-old joined the Paisley side in the autumn and he returned to the Hampden side to get match fitness after overcoming a knee injury and he played 8 times and scored once.
McGinn has now returned to Danny Lennon’s side and Queen’s Park head coach Gardner Speirs is hoping that his spell in the Third Division will help him into the Scottish Communities League Cup Final against Hearts on March 17 alongside his younger brother John.
Speirs said: “Paul was terrific for us and the loan spell did exactly what everyone hoped it would. We had a player that we knew well back in our side and Paul got games that will be vital to him as he looks to break into the St. Mirren side.”
“We would love to have kept him here longer but at this stage of his career Paul needs to be playing at a higher level. Hopefully his stint here will help him be back playing at Hampden in the Scottish Communities League Cup Final.”
