Queen’s Park have allowed veteran defender Andy Millen to leave the club in order to make it easier for the 45 year old to return to football in a full time capacity. Millen answered a SOS from the Hampden club in February to help them through an injury crisis and he ended up playing more than 20 games consecutively as Gardner Speirs side climbed into the end of season Play-Offs.
Albion Rovers ended hopes of promotion at the weekend and Millen, who won the SFL Player of the Month for March, has not been re-signed for next season.
Speirs said, “Andy is looking to get back into football at some level and hopefully that will be in a full time capacity for him. It will make it easier for that to happen for Andy if he is not signed to us.”
“We really enjoyed having him at the club and Andy enjoyed being here where he made a huge positive impression on the youngsters we have in the dressing room.”
Goalkeeper Peter Hamilton, midfielder Paul Harkins and the striking pair of Waleed Nadeem and Graeme Eaglesham have also been released by the Spiders.
