Top scorer Martyn Waghorn grabbed a double and James Tavernier and Nicky Clark were also on target against an Alloa side who finished with 10 men after Eddie Ferns was sent off.

Second-placed Hibernian stormed back to see off St Mirren 4-1 in Paisley. Sean Kelly's early opener was quickly cancelled out by James Cummings. A James Keatings hat-trick, one a penalty, ensured a comfortable win for Alan Stubbs' side.

Falkirk strengthened their grip on third spot with a 2-1 win over Raith Rovers at Stark's Park. Blair Alston and John Baird scored for the Bairns after Mark Stewart had given Rovers the lead.

Queen of the South moved to within a point of the top four after a Paul Heffernan goal gave them a 1-0 home win over Dumbarton.

Denny Johnstone's early penalty was the difference between the teams as Morton defeated Livingston 1-0 at Cappielow.
