James Tavernier got the only goal midway through the second half - beating Mark Oxley with a terrific free-kick - as Mark Warburton's side maintained their 100% start to 2015/16.
Both sides return to action with League Cup second-round ties on Wednesday - Hibernian are at home to Stranraer and Rangers go to Airdrie.
