It was a dream come true for Rangers fan Adam Campbell when he had the chance to meet his hero, Rangers skipper Lee McCulloch.

It was a dream come true for Rangers fan Adam Campbell when he had the chance to meet his hero, Rangers skipper Lee McCulloch.

The 13-year-old won an SPFL competition to present the club with the coveted SPFL League One Champions flag ahead of the club’s opening league game against Heart of Midlothian on Sunday - live on Sky Sports at 1.30pm.

Yesterday at Murray Park, the youngster caught up with the captain, as well as defender Richard Foster, to talk through the season ahead.

The SPFL, which ran the competition, is believed to be the only league body in the world which presents flags to league winners.

Neil Doncaster, SPFL chief executive, said: “The annual presentation of Champions flags to winners of all four SPFL divisions is something which is unique to the Scottish game.

“Ahead of each clubs’ opening home game of the new season, we’re delighted to share the special moment that is delivery and presentation of the flags with young fans who represent the lifeblood and future of the sport in Scotland.”

Adam’s cousin, Sally Neil, who also joined in the presentation at Murray Park, nominated Adam for the help he has given her in attending Rangers games and in all aspects of his family's life while it was affected by cancer.

In her nomination, she said: "Adam is a huge Rangers supporter and attends matches with me and last year helped me get to the games when I had broken ankle.

"He's helped out with so many things without having to be asked so he deserves this chance. It means the world to him.”

The winner of the competition, which ran on the SPFL’s Facebook page, also received a pair of tickets to Rangers’ opening game of the new SPFL Championship season against Hearts.

He was selected at random in a draw featuring more than 60 nominations.
