Rangers have renamed the Govan Stand in memory of club legend Sandy Jardine, who lost his battle with cancer in April at the age of 65.

The ceremony took place before Sunday's Scottish Championship game against Hearts at Ibrox, when Rangers were also presented with the flag for winning League 1 last season.

The Scotland defender made almost 800 appearances for Rangers and was part of the team that won the 1972 Cup Winners' Cup. He was also a key figure for Hearts as a player, assistant and joint manager before returning to work at Ibrox when his career was over.

Captain Lee McCulloch told the club website: "All the players and staff miss Sandy but his contribution to Rangers will never be forgotten and the Sandy Jardine Stand is a fitting legacy to one of the truly great men who represented this club with distinction."
