The younger brother of former England internationalists well as Manchester City, Sunderland, Leeds United and Plymouth Argyle manager Peter Reid has emerged as a shock candidate for the Head Coach position at East Stirling.
John Coughlin has advised the League 2 side that he will not be renewing his contact at the end of the season and Shire Chairman Tony Ford has been advised that 48-year-old Shaun Reid is interested in taking over.
Reid had a much less illustrious career that his elder sibling playing in the lower leagues of English football however he has picked up a UEFA A Coaching Licence and is presently in charge of Northern Premier League Division One North side Warrington Town.
Ford said: "I got a call to say that Shaun was interested as he wants to break into senior football and we asked for that interest to be firmed up with an application."
"John will carry on with the team just now and we have no issues with that as he is extremely professional in everything he does but we are starting the recruitment process now."
