A review of matchday one of the new SPFL Reserve League

The SPFL Reserve League began this week, with eight games on Monday and one on Tuesday.

Hibernian, who were Development League champions in 2017/18, kicked off with a 4-1 victory over Partick Thistle at Oriam, with Sean Mackie sending Hibs on their way to an emphatic win.

The biggest victory of matchday one saw St Mirren thrash Dundee United 5-0 at the Simple Digital Arena, with Jeff King and Scott Glover both netting twice.

Wallace Duffy rounded off the scoring as Celtic beat Dunfermline Athletic 3-0 at Cappielow while captain Callum Moore scored a late winner as Dundee defeated St Johnstone 3-2 at Links Park.

Andrew Dallas struck in the closing minutes as Rangers came from behind to beat Queen of the South 2-1 at Palmerston while a Bruce Anderson goal earned Aberdeen a 1-0 success against Ross County at the Highland Football Academy.

Denny Johnstone hit a double as Morton ran out 3-0 winners away to Falkirk and Innes Cameron bagged a brace as Kilmarnock saw off Hamilton Accies 4-1 at Rugby Park.

Today's game saw Motherwell beat Hearts 2-0 at Forthbank Stadium in Stirling, with second-half goals from George Newell and Neil McLaughlin. Arnaud Djoum played an hour on his comeback from injury for the Tynecastle side.
