Robertson remembers his roots

Dundee United full-back Andrew Robertson may have been called into the Scotland squad last week for next month’s friendly with Poland but he was back raising funds for Queen’s Park on Saturday night.

The 19-year-old was the guest of honour at the Supporters Association quiz night and handed over a signed Dundee United top that was auctioned off.

Robertson, who played at Tannadice on Friday night when Motherwell were defeated 3-1, also took in Queen’s Park’s 1-0 defeat to Annan on Saturday and supporters’ chief Keith McAllister is delighted he has not forgotten his roots.

He said: “Andrew received a great welcome as people at our club are delighted at how well he has done. To help raise funds for the Youth Programme at Queen’s Park by handing over a strip was a terrific gesture as well.

“Andrew and his family were always big supporters of fundraising events when he was with Queen’s Park and we cannot thank him enough for continuing that despite everything that has happened in his career since he left last summer.”
