Queen of the South have released former Rangers goalkeeper Lee Robinson at the end of his six month deal at the club with Doonhamer boss Kenny Brannigan describing the move as a ‘tragedy’. The Palmerston Park side signed Robinson in the summer as both David Hutton and Roddy McKenzie were injured and he was used in the club’s cup-ties when Hutton was fit again.
The early arrival of winter cost Robinson an ALBA Challenge Cup Final medal when the showdown with Ross County in Perth at the end of November was called-off and his bad luck has continued with his release.
Brannigan said, “It is a tragedy for us that we cannot keep Lee but we do not have the funds to do so. It is a tragedy for him that he is out of the game and Lee is an example of how bad things are in football just now. He is a right good goalkeeper and should be with a club and hopefully he can get something soon.”
