Montrose will not see defender Gareth Rodger play for them again during his loan spell from St Johnstone that is expiring in January.
The 19-year-old managed only five appearances for the Gable Endies after joining in September, due to a knee injury that now requires surgery.
Links Park manager Stuart Garden said: “Gareth had a scan on the knee that has been troubling him and it has identified a problem that needs sorting. He will not be able to play for us again which is a disappointment for him and for us.”
