Ross County promoted

Ross County will play in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League for the first time in their history next season after clinching the Division One title without playing on Tuesday night.

Nearest challengers Dundee had to beat Queen of the South at Dens Park to delay the Staggies' celebrations but were held to a 1-1 draw and trail the leaders by 14 points with four games to go.

Derek Adams' team have five matches remaining and go into Wednesday's trip to Ayr United having lost just once in the league all season - against Hamilton Accies way back in August.

Ross County only joined the Scottish League in 1994 but have made huge progress and Victoria Park will now host SPL football in the 2012/13 campaign, which begins on Saturday August 4.
