Ross Mathie to retire from Youth position

Mathie to depart SFA role

The SFA’s long serving Youth Guru, Ross Mathie, has advised the Hampden body of his intention to retire from the post he has held for nearly 30 years after this season’s Sky Sports Victory Shield international against England in November.

Ross MathieMathie who was a striker with Kilmarnock, Dumbarton, Berwick Rangers and Falkirk in his playing days, and has coached teams from under-15 to under-19 level since starting work in 1982, will turn 65 in the same month his young side face the Auld Enemy.

Former National Team manager Craig Brown brought Mathie to the SFA after the pair worked together when Brown was the manager of Clyde.

Mathie said, “It would be an obvious high to go out on by beating England.”
