Rover Ward re-signs nine players

Albion Rovers boss James Ward signed up nine players for next season before going away for a short honeymoon.

Albion Rovers boss James Ward signed up nine players for next season before going away for a short honeymoon.

The Coatbridge manager got married earlier this month and he organised the re-signing of most of this season’s squad before jetting off for a short break on Sunday, although he will be back in time for Saturday’s game at Peterhead.

Among those putting pen to paper is skipper Ciaran Donnelly, who enters his 10th season at the League 2 club. Joining Donnelly for an extended stay at Cliftonhill are Neil Parry, the Dunlop brothers, Mick and Ross, Scott Chaplain, Liam Cusack, Mark McGuigan, Chris Dallas and Martin Maguire.

Ward said: “I was delighted to get all these boys signed up before taking a few days off. They have all contributed to what has been an eventful season at Albion Rovers.

“They will form the backbone of the squad I am looking to put in a strong push for promotion next season.”
