Albion Rovers keeper Neil Parry is hoping they can end a run of four straight defeats against Berwick Rangers at Shielfield this weekend.
The Cliftonhill club are locked in a three-way battle for the League 2 title, with leaders Queen’s Park and second-placed Arbroath, but have struggled in recent weeks.
The former Queen’s Park No 1 said: “You could say that we have hit a bump in the road as it has been a disappointing run. As well as losing, our performances have not been good either and that is disappointing as well.
“I reckon that having the play-off at the foot of the table this season has changed the dynamics of the league. I have played in it in the past four seasons and this season is different.
“Teams would sometimes be trying something out at this stage if they were out of things for promotion but that is not happening now. Games were always competitive but there are no risks or experiments going on anymore and everything is about getting a win.”
The Coatbridge side have lost eight goals in those last four games, which is in marked contrast to the 16 they had shipped in the previous 21.
Parry added: “Our defensive record was the best by a good distance in the first half of the season but we have lost Alan Reid and Kyle Turnbull from that defence due to injury.
“The boys who have come in have done well but losing half of your defence unsettles a team and affects your consistency. Our player/manager Darren Young has also been out but everyone is available now so we can look forward and not back.
“To get back to winning ways this weekend I would take a 5-4 success over Berwick Rangers and that is not something a goalkeeper will say too often!
“I watched their game with Queen's Park on BBC ALBA and they were impressive before losing 2-1. They are one of the best footballing sides in our league and their player/manager Colin Cameron still oozes class when he is on the pitch.
“They were unlucky against Queen's Park and will be out to make up for that so we are under no illusions that this will be a tough game.”
