Leigh Griffiths gave the champions the lead early in the second half with his 40th goal of the season but Steven MacLean and Graham Cummins struck to win it for Saints.
Motherwell were 3-1 winners away to Ross County, Inverness CT defeated Hamilton Accies 1-0 at New Douglas Park and Dundee and Kilmarnock drew 1-1 at Dens Park.
