Rangers moved to within three points of Ladbrokes Premiership leaders Celtic with a 4-0 win over bottom club St Mirren at Ibrox. James Tavernier (twice) and Jermain Defoe scored from the spot before Ryan Kent wrapped things up. Second-placed Ayr United defeated Alloa Athletic 3-1 at the Indodrill Stadium and Dundee United stay third after beating Morton 2-1 at Tannadice. Partick Thistle claimed their first away league win of the season, beating Inverness CT 2-1, which means Falkirk stay bottom despite seeing off Queen of the South 3-0 to record their first home league victory of 2018/19.

There were three matches in Ladbrokes League 1 - second-placed Raith Rovers were held to a 1-1 draw by in-form Forfar Athletic at Stark's Park, Montrose thumped Brechin City 5-2 at Links Park and it finished 2-2 between Airdrieonians and Dumbarton at the Penny Cars Stadium.
