St Mirren saw off bottom club St Johnstone 2-0 in Paisley and it finished 1-1 between Hamilton Accies and Hibernian. Rangers travel to Tynecastle to play Hearts on Sunday, live on BT Sport at 12.15pm.
Stephen Dobbie scored twice as Queen of the South thumped Ladbrokes Championship leaders Dundee United 4-0 at Palmerston. United remain top on goal difference as closest challengers Ayr United went down 3-2 to Dunfermline Athletic at East End Park and Inverness CT were held to a 2-2 draw by Alloa Athletic in the Highland capital. Bottom club Partick Thistle scored three times in the closing minutes to defeat Dundee 3-1 at Dens Park while Arbroath leapfrogged Morton with a 1-0 win at Gayfield.
East Fife beat Forfar Athletic 1-0 at Bayview to move level on points with Ladbrokes League 1 leaders Raith Rovers, who were pegged back in a 2-2 draw at Clyde. Falkirk dismissed Peterhead 4-0 while Montrose were 3-1 winners away to Airdrieonians. A 0-0 draw against bottom club Stranraer was enough to take Dumbarton into the play-off places.
