Scots set for Serbia tie

The Scotland squad trained at Hampden on Friday in preparation for tomorrow's World Cup qualifier against Serbia at the National Stadium.

Craig Levein's men begin their 2014 campaign with a home double header - they entertain Macedonia on Tuesday - before travelling to Wales and Belgium in mid-October.

The Scotland boss, who is likely to deploy a 4-5-1 formation, said: "What's important to me is the players understand the system, that the players feel comfortable in the system and they go on the pitch knowing exactly what their task is, because we have been doing the same sort of thing for a couple of years and reinforcing things as often as we can.

"In my opinion there are four players that should start that won't. It is difficult but that for me is a dilemma I'd much rather have than a position where I'm struggling for players."

A number of players have been ruled out through injury, including Celtic midfielder Scott Brown, his Parkhead team-mate Charlie Mulgrew and Southampton full-back Danny Fox.
