Sleepless in Stranraer

Stranraer manager Stevie Aitken has admitted to having sleepless nights as his team bid to secure a play-off place.

Stranraer manager Stevie Aitken has admitted to having sleepless nights as his team bid to secure a Play-Off place.

The Stair Park side have been in the top four since November but are without a win in six matches and fifth-placed Stenhousemuir have closed the gap to six points.

Aitken said: “We are one win, maybe two, away from securing our place and I don’t think I will get much sleep until we do. It has been like that for a few weeks now as we suffered from a hectic run of midweek games but we are out of that now and playing a lot better.

“What this run has shown the players is just how well they did earlier in the season - if we can get back to how well we were playing then we will be OK.

“We have Arbroath this weekend and that will be difficult, especially at Gayfield, but hopefully we can win and I will get a decent night’s sleep!”
