Alloa boss Barry Smith was proud of his players as they held Rangers to a 1-1 draw at the Indodrill Stadium on Saturday but was frustrated they didn't claim victory.
The Wasps, who beat Hibernian 2-1 a fortnight ago and who entertain leaders Hearts on October 11, went in front through Jonathan Tiffoney's first-half header but David Templeton equalised late on.
Smith said: "The boys are all disappointed we didn't win the game. We defended so well, had a lot of the game in the first half and created chances.
"This level of performance is what we are looking for because it's a competitive league and we can't afford to let our standards slip. We want this place to be difficult for visiting teams."
Rangers manager Ally McCoist said: "We never got going. Our tempo was nothing like high enough for any of the game - we had to do something about it but we didn't."
