Championship side Alloa have named ex-Dundee boss Barry Smith as their new manager following the recent departure of Paul Hartley.
Smith’s first game in charge will be against his former club at Dens Park on Saturday and Wasps chairman Mike Mulraney is delighted to have him on board.
He said: “We were inundated with applications but when you know what you want it makes it much easier. Alloa Athletic were very firm in their belief what was needed at the club and Barry Smith fills every criteria.”
Smith added: “I’ve enjoyed coaching, most recently at Ross County and I was grateful to George and Derek Adams for allowing me to go up there, but when the opportunity came to get back into football management again, I felt Alloa Athletic would be a great place to come.
"Paul Hartley did extremely well here and I will look to continue that. I have aspirations to get the team as high up the table as possible but the priority this season has to be to stay in the league.”
