Hamilton Accies midfielder Darian MacKinnon has blossomed into a Premiership player since joining the club from Clydebank Juniors in July 2012.
The 28-year-old was a prolific marksman for the Bankies and showed he has not lost his eye for goal by scoring the winner against St Johnstone last weekend.
He’s the first player in the SPFL Spotlight this season…
What’s the best goal you have ever scored?
Until Saturday it was a goal I scored for Clydebank in a Sectional League Cup tie against Maryhill Juniors. It was a touch in the air and then a volley from 25 yards so it was decent! My goal against St Johnstone was not as spectacular but it was the winning goal in a Premiership match and that makes it the best one ever.
What’s the best game that you have played in?
The play-off at Easter Road against Hibs at the end of last season. We went there 2-0 down and had been written off by everyone. Even in the last minute, when we were a goal down, we kept believing and got an equaliser before winning on penalties. I am still blown away thinking about that game.
What is your favourite away ground?
Easter Road is special for obvious reasons and I quite liked Dunfermline’s East End Park but my favourite is The Falkirk Stadium. I am looking forward to visiting a few new ones this season, especially Celtic Park and Pittodrie.
What is your favourite other sport?
I am getting back into golf after not playing for a while. I have not sorted out a handicap or anything like that and I am in no hurry to do so, as there are a few sharks at our club!
How much of the World Cup did you watch?
I watched bits and pieces of it in the group stages but watched more regularly when the knock-out games started. Germany’s Thomas Muller was the stand-out player for me.
What is your favourite pre-match meal?
I have porridge before every game, even the evening kick-offs, and I have it every morning as well. However, on training days I bring in a shaker with Weetabix in it.
Who is your favourite singer?
I am partial to a bit of Paulo Nutini but I am not allowed to choose the tunes for the players. I am 28 and considered too old to do that!
Who is the biggest moaner at the club?
There is actually a few who fall into that category and I am one of them! The winner is Dougie Imrie but not by much from my good self in second place!
Who is the best trainer at the club?
That has to be Louis Longridge. He just keeps going and going like the Duracell Bunny.
Who does the best football tricks at the Accies?
Anthony Andreu by a mile. He is class and does things with a ball that others can only dream of.
Who is the worst dressed at the club?
Andy Ryan wears some bad stuff and we don’t know whether he is going for the American/Italian look or the Italian/American look. As for his baseball shoes… they are just terrible!
Who is the best dancer?
Has to be Louis Longridge again – he has got the moves!
