At a disciplinary hearing today (Friday 2 August, 2024) a Sub-Committee of the Board of the SPFL sanctioned St Mirren FC for fielding an ineligible player against Berwick Rangers in the SPFL Trust Trophy on Tuesday July 30.
St Mirren FC admitted breaching SPFL Rules and Regulations by playing the player in the match when he was not registered with the Scottish Football Association.
The Tribunal imposed the following sanctions:
(i) The Club was reprimanded and warned as to future conduct;
(ii) St Mirren B’s SPFL Trust Trophy match v Berwick Rangers will be recorded as a 3-0 victory for Berwick Rangers, who will therefore be reinstated to the competition and will play Dumbarton in the second round;
(iii) A fine of £1,000, of which the full amount is suspended until 30 June 2025 pending any further breaches of SPFL Player Regulations.
