Queen’s Park are to become the first Scottish club to have their home and away strips supplied by Under Armour in a deal brokered by Scottish internationalist Graham Dorrans.
The Spiders have moved to the same company that presently kit out Gareth Bale at Tottenham Hotspur after agreeing a tie up with the American company who are represented in Scotland by DaySeventeen Limited which is run by Dorrans and his brother-in-law Derek Day.
The strips were modeled at Glasgow’s famous Rogano Restaurant by Gardner Speirs’ first team squad with Dorrans saying: “We are delighted to be the official kit suppliers to such a historic club as Queen’s Park. Derek and the club have put a lot of effort into giving us a break in Scotland and we are really pleased at having a three year deal in place.”
The Hampden club’s new away strip is a return to their traditional travelling colours of red and black after they decided to take a break from the blue and orange colours of their sponsor IRN-BRU after 10 years.
Their well-established home black and white hooped top remains as does the sponsorship from Scotland’s other National Drink that Queen’s have enjoyed since 1997 with committee member Garry Templeman saying: “We are delighted to again be backed by IRN-BRU and welcome Under-Armour to the Queen’s Park family. We have opted for red next season but of course the ‘Original and Best’ logo that we share with IRN-BRU remains.”
Head Coach Gardner Speirs said: “The players are delighted with the quality of the kit and really pleased that we have a tie up with Under Armour.”
