SPL winning runs

Celtic secured a ninth successive victory in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League when they beat Kilmarnock 3-0 at Parkhead on Wednesday night.

Gordon Strachan's side have responded superbly since losing to Rangers at the end of August to establish a lead at the top.

Celtic also racked up nine-game winning streaks in the SPL under Strachan en route to the title in 2005/06 and 2007/08 and achieved 11 straight victories in the championship season of 2006/07.

The record for the most consecutive wins in SPL history is also held by Celtic. In the 2003/04 campaign, Martin O'Neill's men put together an incredible 25-match winning streak.

After drawing their opening game at Dunfermline, Celtic began the sequence with a 5-0 thrashing of Dundee United on August 16, 2003 and did not drop a single point until Motherwell earned a 1-1 draw at Celtic Park on March 14, 2004. In all, Celtic went 32 matches without defeat before Aberdeen triumphed 2-1 in Glasgow.
