Hamilton manager Alex Neil was delighted to see his side continue their excellent run of form with a League Cup victory over Motherwell.
Accies will travel to Aberdeen in the quarter-finals after beating their Lanarkshire rivals 6-5 on penalties following a goalless 120 minutes at New Douglas Park.
Teenager Craig Watson, on as a substitute, scored the decisive kick after Michael McGovern had saved from Motherwell defender Simon Ramsden.
Neil said: "I said to them that, whatever happened in the penalty shoot-out, they wouldn't have let me down because they worked their socks off.
"Craig, being the bold lad that he is, stuck his hand up. I told him not to worry about it if he missed because he had done great. I said he was going to score the winner and he stuck it away."
