St Mirren beat Hearts 1-0 at the Simple Digital Arena on Wednesday night to leave Hearts four points adrift of Hamilton Accies at the bottom of the table.
Jon Obika scored the only goal early in the second half as Jim Goodwin's men earned a crucial win to move up to ninth place.
Saints now go to Kilmarnock on Saturday while Hearts travel to Livingston on Sunday.
