Morton midfielder Stephen Stirling played for the first time in nearly 11 months on Monday night, after breaking his leg against Partick Thistle last October.
The former Rangers, Stirling Albion and Stranraer man got an hour under his belt in the Cappielow side’s first reserve game of the season, which was won 3-0 by Alloa.
The 23-year-old is out to earn a new contract if he can prove his fitness and manager Allan Moore said: “Stephen has stepped things up in training over the past few weeks and playing in this game is a great step forward for him. There is still a place for him at Morton if he can get back to what he showed early last season.”
