Berwick Rangers have asked their fans to dig deep to help purchase an electric wheelchair for their former player Stuart Markland.
Centre-half Markland played for the Borderers for two seasons before joining Dundee United in 1968 for a one-year spell.
The 66-year-old is now unfortunately housebound due to ill health and two former Berwick players, Russell Craig and John Keith, are trying to raise funds for an electric wheelchair, in order that Markland can achieve a better quality of life.
Craig said: “Buying this wheelchair for Stuart would be a giant step forward for his quality of life in the future. We would be very grateful for any possible assistance in raising funds to help us achieve our goal.”
Donations can be made to The Stuart Markland Disability Fund, Bank of Scotland plc, 153 Portobello High Street, Portobello, Edinburgh, EH15 2AG. The Sort Code is 80-22-60 and the account number is 00123566.
