Sweeney extends stay at Bully Wee

Clyde skipper agrees contract extension

Clyde captain John Sweeney has agreed to extend his stay with Bully Wee until the end of the 2014/15 season after he became the latest addition to the Player Investment Initiative programme that the club run backed by sponsors.

Sweeney joined the Cumbernauld club in 2010 from junior side Pollock and the 26-year-old said: “I am delighted to be remaining at Clyde as I have really enjoyed my time here. The club has changed a lot during that time and it is very exciting to be part of the manager's plans for the next 18 months.

“I am pleased to keep my relationship with the Clyde fans going as their backing has been tremendous in recent weeks and they know I give 100% effort for the club."

Club director Bobby Gracey added: "I am delighted that our player investment model has proven to be a success and this income has allowed the manager to start to consolidate his plans for this season and beyond.

“John loves being at Clyde and is very committed to the club on and off the park. The new contract was recommended by the manager, which reinforces the faith the club have in him."
