SWPL fixtures for 2022/23

Schedules published for SWPL 1 and SWPL 2

The Scottish Women’s Premier League (“SWPL”) has today published the 2022/23 fixture lists for the Scottish Women’s Premier League 1 (“SWPL 1”) and Scottish Women’s Premier League 2 (“SWPL 2”).

The forthcoming campaign marks a new era for women’s football in Scotland and is the first season of the newly-created competitions, now under the responsibility of the Scottish Professional Football League (“SPFL”).

The new league season gets under way on Sunday 7th August, with SWPL 1 champions Rangers defending their title at home to Glasgow Women.

Meanwhile, last year’s SWPL 2 champions Dundee United kick off their campaign with a home game against Motherwell, while Aberdeen travel to Hamilton Accies on the opening day.

Spartans will travel to Glasgow to play last year’s runners-up Glasgow City, who will be looking to regain the league crown back from title rivals Rangers.

Cup double winners Celtic kick off the season with a home game against Hibernian. The final fixture of the opening day sees Hearts host Partick Thistle in the capital.

In SWPL 2, newly-promoted East Fife travel to fellow SWPL 2 newcomers Gartcairn on the opening day of the season. Meanwhile, last year’s Championship North champions Montrose kick off their season at home to Stirling University.

Boroughmuir Thistle welcome fellow promotion-chasers Kilmarnock on matchday one, with Queen’s Park travelling to Perth to play St Johnstone in what promises to be an exciting start to the new season.

Please note that all games are subject to change. TV selections for matches will be confirmed and communicated as soon as possible.

Fiona McIntyre, interim managing director of the SWPL, said: “It is a hugely exciting moment to finally be releasing this season’s SWPL fixture list.

“This will be the first season of the SWPL under the responsibility of the SPFL and we believe this is a significant moment for the continued growth of the game in this country.

“Women’s football in Scotland has gone from strength to strength in recent times, and everyone will be working hard to maximise the potential of the league in the months and years ahead.

“We can’t wait for this season’s action to get under way, and we wish all our clubs the best of luck for the season ahead.”
