Stenhousemuir have opted against extending the loan period of Dundee United defender Ross Smith until the end of the season.
The 21-year-old had joined the Warriors back in August on a deal that ran until the weekend with the option of keeping Smith until May.
Manager Martyn Corrigan has however allowed Smith to return after capturing former Morton defender Stewart Greacen as a permanent signing.
Smith, who had a loan spell at Peterhead last season, played 16 times for the Warriors and Corrigan said: “I would like to thank Ross for his efforts here and wish him well with Dundee United. With Stewart on board now his chances of playing were reduced and it was better for him to return to his club.”
