Annan Athletic cinch League Two

Team of the Week!

Annan's Tony Wallace named Star Man!

GK - Zach Hemming (Kilmarnock)

It's not often we'll give the TOTW spot to a goalkeeper who was sent off, but it was a very unusual weekend of football from the games that went ahead on Boxing Day, as you're about to see. Hemming may have received his marching orders but this was after he made two penalty saves to keep his side ahead in their 3-2 win over Hamilton Accies.

DRC - Chris Cadden (Hibernian)

The first of three "defenders" in this team who didn't actually play in defence as we struggled to find impressive displays from stoppers in a day of football which was goals galore. Cadden started at right wing-back and was a constant menace, including scoring a goal, in a second straight victory for Shaun Maloney's side, who won 3-1 at Dundee United.

DC - Peter Haring (Heart of Midlothian)

Hearts hold a five-point gap in third place going into the winter break in the cinch Premiership. They were able to defeat Ross County 2-1 on Sunday thanks to goals from Michael Smith and Ben Woodburn but we've opted for the Austrian, who was both great at winning back possession and pinging long-range passes.

DLC - James Maxwell (Ayr United)

Completing our ill-fitting trio, the left-back started on the left side of midfield during Ayr United's 2-0 victory over Raith Rovers, putting in an immense performance down the wing in a much-needed win for the Honest Men in the cinch Championship.

MR - Leighton McIntosh (Cove Rangers)

Cove have won eight of their last nine games in all competitions and hold a five-point lead at the top of cinch League 1 after a 4-2 triumph over bottom side East Fife at the weekend. McIntosh netted the opener in an industrious performance on the right side of midfield.

MC - Michael McKenna (Arbroath)

McKenna scored and was a real troublesome presence during a thumping 3-0 victory by Dick Campbell's side at Dunfermline Athletic. It means they have a three-point lead at the top of the second tier, a remarkable achievement for a part-time side.

MC - Lewis Ferguson (Aberdeen)

It wasn't the best of showings from Stephen Glass' men who overcame an early scare from a depleted Dundee side to finish the day with a 2-1 win. Ferguson netted the winner and was the stand-out player for the Reds.

ML - Scott Wright (Rangers)

Having struggled for consistency, Wright appears to be enjoying a new lease of life under Giovanni van Bronckhorst and was the star man in his side's 2-0 victory over St Mirren, keeping their six-point lead at the top of the cinch Premiership.

FR - Liel Abada (Celtic)

Celtic made relatively easy work of St Johnstone in the live TV game on Sunday with Abada netting twice in the 3-1 win. The Israeli is coming back into goalscoring form with three in his last four to take his tally to 10 for the season.

FC - Kevin van Veen (Motherwell)

Two goals and a masterful attacking performance from the cult-hero Dutchman saw Motherwell defeat Livingston 2-1 to remain on the coat-tails of Hearts in the chase for Europe.

FL - Tony Wallace (Annan Athletic)

The most stunning result of the SPFL came at the Galabank where Kelty Hearts' 100% league record went up in smoke with a 5-1 hammering. The shocking nature of the scoreline and Wallace netting a first career hat-trick means we break our typical rule around substitutes by not only including this one, but also giving him the star man honour.
