Team of the Week

Craig Fowler from A View from the Terrace names his SPFL XI with Motherwell's Mika Biereth the Star Man...

GK - Jack Butland (Rangers)

Rangers ended up with a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Livingston at the weekend, but it wouldn't have been as straightforward were it not for an impressive double save from the summer signing with the game still finely poised at 1-0.

DEF - Adam Cummins (Stirling Albion)

The Stirling back-line were all exceptional in the 1-0 victory away to Alloa Athletic, which continued the Binos’ perfect start to life in cinch League 1. Cummins gets the nod for his excellent play on the right of the defence.

DEF - Kyle Benedictus (Dunfermline Athletic)

The centre-back picked up a head knock during his side's 1-1 draw with Dundee United, but it didn't stop him producing a committed display. The visitors were able to frustrate the hosts for long periods at Tannadice and were seconds away from leaving with all three points.

DEF - Efe Ambrose (Queen of the South)

Man of the Match in his side's 2-1 victory at Edinburgh City, the 34-year-old's experience at the back was a key factor as Queen of the South battled back from conceding an early goal to earn all three points.

DEF - Scott Tanser (St Mirren)

One of many impressive performers as St Mirren defeated Dundee to make it two wins from two to begin the cinch Premiership season. Tanser offered an attacking threat with his crossing ability whilst also performing his defensive duties well as Saints ran out 2-1 winners.

MID - Ryan One (Hamilton Accies)

The first of two substitutes who made a real impact on this weekend’s cinch SPFL results. The son of cult hero Armand, One played a big role in Accies getting their second consecutive win to start the season, scoring one and setting up another in a 2-0 victory at Kelty Hearts.

MID - Matt O’Riley (Celtic)

Celtic remain top of the cinch Premiership table after surviving a stern test from Aberdeen to win 3-1 at Pittodrie. O'Riley impressed in the middle of the park and got the goal which made sure of the points.

MID - Connor Randall (Ross County)

Initially brought to Scottish football to play centre-midfield for Hearts, Randall has mainly played as a right-back during his time in the top flight. However, his return to the engine room has seen Randall flourish with his tenacity, quick passing and an eye for goal helping the Staggies defeat St. Johnstone.

MID - Callum Smith (Raith Rovers)

Smith got the winning goal as Rovers emerged on the right side of a five-goal thriller at home to Greenock Morton. A rich reward for a performance full of endeavour from Ian Murray’s men.

FWD - Mika Biereth (Motherwell)

This week’s Star Man only took 30 minutes to make his mark. On loan from Arsenal, Biereth showed his physical prowess to play a big part in both goals as Motherwell got the better of Hibs at Fir Park. The 20-year-old set up the opener for Conor Wilkinson before getting the better of Will Fish to get on the scoresheet himself.

FWD - Ruari Paton (Queen’s Park)

Another who got his reward for a performance full of running, Paton netted the winning goal for Queen's Park in their 2-1 victory over Arbroath and was a threat throughout the match.
