Team of the Week

Craig Fowler from A View from the Terrace names his cinch SPFL XI after the weekend's games...

GK - Dimitar Mitov (St Johnstone)

St Johnstone secured their top-flight status for another season thanks to a 2-1 victory away at Motherwell which, along with Ross County failing to defeat Aberdeen, saw them finish in 10th place. The crucial point in the match came during the first half when, at 1-0 up, Mitov faced ex-Saints striker Theo Bair for a penalty kick. The Bulgarian, as he has done all season, came up big with a save, keeping St Johnstone ahead and on the road to victory.

DEF - Anthony Ralston (Celtic)

The Celtic full-back could make Scotland's Euro 2024 squad after a strong showing in their 3-2 win over St. Mirren on Trophy Day at Celtic Park. Ralston's cross for Luis Palma's goal was sublime.

DEF - Mikey Devlin (Livingston)

In a difficult campaign for Livingston, Devlin put in one of his best displays of the campaign during the 1-1 final-day draw with Hibernian.

DEF - Chris McQueen (Stranraer)

An East Kilbride player when the season started, the centre-back came back to haunt his old club as Stranraer emerged victorious over the two legs of the cinch League Two play-off final, ultimately winning 5-3 on aggregate after extra-time in the second leg. McQueen impressed throughout the 120 minutes at the heart of the Stranraer backline.

DEF - Fraser Murray (Kilmarnock)

Murray made the most of his place in Kilmarnock's starting XI with his driving runs down the wing helping to create Gary Mackay-Steven's goal in the 1-1 draw with Dundee.

MID - Ross McCausland (Rangers)

The young Northern Irishman has enjoyed a breakout season for Rangers and did his hopes of earning a Scottish Cup Final start no harm in the club's final league game of the season. McCausland scored an excellent individual goal in a thrilling 3-3 draw at Tynecastle.

MID - Scott Brown (Raith Rovers)

Rovers will take on Ross County in the cinch Premiership play-off final after a nerve-shredding penalty shoot-out with Partick Thistle. Brown was outstanding in the centre of the park and helped the home side keep their promotion dream alive.

MID - Blair Alston (Partick Thistle)

Partick Thistle put in a huge effort in their cinch Premiership Play-Off semi-final defeat on penalties. Blair Alston netted the goal to bring the Jags back into matters in the first leg and he scored twice in the second match to take the tie all the way to spot-kicks.

MID - Kenneth Vargas (Hearts)

The winger impressed with his strong running and got himself an assist as Hearts battled back from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 with Rangers in front of a jubilant crowd at Tynecastle.

FWD - Michael Ruth (Dumbarton)

Dumbarton will be playing Scottish League 1 football next season after drawing 2-2 in the second leg of their play-off final with Spartans, progressing 4-3 on aggregate. Ruth netted an early equaliser in this contest before giving the Sons full command shortly into the second period with a tremendously well-taken individual goal. For his efforts, he is this week's Star Man.

FWD - Kevin O’Hara (Hamilton Accies)

Another two-goal hero for a play-off clinching side, O'Hara's first-half double helped put Accies in a commanding 5-2 aggregate lead against Inverness CT, which they saw out with a fair degree of comfort in the second 45 minutes to ultimately win 5-3 across the two legs and return to the Scottish Championship at the first time of asking.
