Team of the Week

Craig G Telfer from A View from the Terrace names his William Hill SPFL XI

GK - Jamie Smith (Annan Athletic)

Jamie Smith proved to be Annan Athletic’s hero in their 1-1 draw at Stenhousemuir. The goalkeeper pulled off an excellent point-black stop to deny Matty Yates in the first half and saved Blair Alston’s penalty in the second.

DEF - David McKay (Alloa Athletic)

Alloa Athletic got back to winning ways by beating Arbroath 3-1 at Gayfield. Not only did Wasps centre-back David McKay turn in a strong defensive performance, he also netted his side’s third goal to put the game beyond doubt.

DEF - Edin Lynch (Edinburgh City)

Edinburgh City bounced back from last week’s defeat to record an impressive 2-0 victory against Bonnyrigg Rose. The Citizens were forced to withstand heavy second-half pressure from their opponents but their defence – led superbly by Edin Lynch – stood firm.

DEF - Liam Gordon (Motherwell)

Motherwell kept their third clean sheet of the season in their 2-0 win over Aberdeen. Centre-back Liam Gordon repelled everything that came his way and assisted Tawanda Maswanhise’s goal with a fine pass.

MID - Martin Boyle (Hibernian)

Hibernian’s 3-3 draw with Rangers was one of the most entertaining encounters of the weekend and Martin Boyle certainly played his part in the fun. The forward was typically direct and pacey and scored twice, including one from the penalty spot.

MID - Jack Turner (Queen’s Park)

The Queen’s Park midfielder turned in a man-of-the-match performance in his side’s 2-0 win over Livingston. Turner dominated the middle of the park and chipped in with both goals, taking his tally for the season to 11 in all competitions.

MID - Nohan Kenneh (Ross County)

Ross County are on a tear right now, winning three consecutive top-flight away games for the first time in their history. Nohan Kenneh, who’s returned to the club for a second loan spell, played a vital role in securing that historic win against Kilmarnock on Sunday.

MID - Jordan Houston (Clyde)

Clyde continued their steady progress under Darren Young with a fine 2-0 victory against Stirling Albion. While this was a good team performance, Jordan Houston was the Bully Wee’s standout player.

FWD - Hamza Igamane (Rangers)

The Moroccan forward is this week’s star man after scoring an excellent hat-trick in Rangers 3-3 draw at Hibernian. All three goals were superbly taken and he was just the width of the post away from adding a fourth late on.

FWD - George Oakley (Ayr United)

Ayr United climbed to second place in the Championship table courtesy of a sterling 3-0 win over Raith Rovers. George Oakley showcased his striking instincts to score an outstanding first-half hat-trick - every goal was finished from inside the six-yard box!

FWD - Chris Kane (Dunfermline Athletic)

Dunfermline Athletic recorded arguably one of the most surprising results of the weekend, turning over Partick Thistle 4-1 at Firhill. Chris Kane was central to the Pars’ victory, scoring twice and setting up another. Kane’s second, an audacious bicycle kick, was especially impressive.
