Team of the Week

Craig Fowler from A View from the Terrace names his SPFL XI after the weekend's games...

GK – Jordan Smith (Hibernian)

The goalkeeper made a key stop and put in another impressive showing as Hibs moved a step closer to securing third place, on the same day Aberdeen lost at St Mirren, by defeating Dundee United 3-1 at Easter Road. David Gray's men now have a three-point lead with three games to play and a much superior goal difference than the chasing two.

DEF – Lee Ashcroft (Partick Thistle)

Thistle were able to book themselves a spot in the second-tier play-offs by going to title-chasing Livingston and winning 1-0. Ashcroft, as he has done so many times this season, put in a big performance in the result.

DEF – Stuart Findlay (Kilmarnock)

Killie handed their hopes of avoiding the drop a significant boost with a 2-0 victory at St Johnstone which now puts them six points clear of safety with three games remaining in the William Hill Premiership. Findlay, who missed a lot of the season through injury, has returned to give his team a real shot in the arm.

DEF – Dan Casey (Motherwell)

Motherwell were able to come from behind to claim all three points and keep Dundee deep in trouble in the topnflight after winning 2-1 away from home this past Saturday. Tawanda Maswanhise was the difference-maker off the bench but we've opted for Casey, who impressed throughout the game.

MID – Findlay Marshall (Cove Rangers)

A goal and an assist from the midfielder helped Cove Rangers to secure second place in William Hill League One after a 4-2 victory away at Annan Athletic.

MID – Oisin Smyth (St Mirren)

The midfielder came into the side for Caolan Boyd-Munce and put in a big showing as the Buddies upset Aberdeen's hopes of finishing third in the Scottish Premiership with a 1-0 victory in Paisley.

MID – Mikey Anderson (Stenhousemuir)

Stenny were able to secure the last play-off spot in League One thanks to a final-day 2-1 victory over Dumbarton. Anderson was superb in the middle of the park, dominating the midfield area on and off the ball and setting the tempo for his side.

MID – Danny Denholm (Forfar Athletic)

The man-of-the-match as Forfar got themselves the point they needed from their William Hill League Two clash with Stirling Albion to ensure their safety and avoid being Club 42 in the SPFL Play-off.

FWD – Robbie Cole (Kelty Hearts)

A goal and arguably his most impressive performance to date in a Kelty Hearts jersey gets Cole a space in this team after helping to stop Alloa Athletic from getting the final play-off spot in the third tier.

FWD – Lawrence Shankland (Heart of Midlothian)

Shankland may have endured a tough season but his double in the Highlands this past weekend was crucial for Hearts as they overturned an early deficit and dismissed any talk of relegation trouble with a 3-1 win over Ross County.

FWD – Ethan Ross (Falkirk)

This week's Star Man comes from Friday evening as Falkirk were able to secure the William Hill Championship trophy despite suffering an early scare against Hamilton Accies. Thanks to two goals from Ross, John McGlynn's side were able to overturn an early deficit and ultimately run out 3-1 victors.
